Vitamin D is critical to maintaining ones health and preventing or reversing diabetes. It has been shown time and time again through research that a deficiency of this vital hormone can facilitate the development of a great many debilitating diseases.
Your skin makes vitamin D when exposed to ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation from the sun. This is the great thing about Vitamin D, it’s free, if we get adequate amounts of sunlight. Then we must also remember that sunscreens and sun block will inhibit the production of Vitamin D by blocking the UVB rays. Recently the researchers at Environmental Working Group released the statement that sunscreen products may actually increase the speed at which malignant cells develop and spread skin cancer.
To get adequate amounts of vitamin D a person would want to have at least ¾ of their body exposed to direct sunlight for about 20-30 min each day. Sun exposure through a window will not do as the UVB rays do not penetrate the glass. Also the person should not wash their skin immediately after sun exposure as the vitamin D must be absorbed by the skin over the next few hours. If one needs to shower then I suggest only rinsing with cool water and using soap only on the areas where the “sun don’t shine”, as to not wash away the oil and vitamin D from the skin.
In addition to its well-known role in calcium metabolism, vitamin D activates genes that control cell growth and programmed cell death (apoptosis), express mediators that regulate the immune system, and release neurotransmitters (e.g., serotonin) that influence one’s mental state.
Though much of the research into the benefits of vitamin D have been available for years the medical community is still slow to embrace the concept of this alternative to drugs. This is a much needed transition due to the fact that here recently the American College of Cardiology in Atlanta released 3 large studies revealing that the most widely prescribed medications to reduce the risk of heart disease in Type 2 diabetes patients appeared “not to provide much benefit at all.” This means that thousands of diabetes patients are paying thousands of dollars for drugs that are ultimately providing them with zero benefit.
Researchers at the Health Sciences Research Institute at Warwick Medical School in the United Kingdom have shown that “high levels of vitamin D among middle-age and elderly populations are associated with a substantial decrease in cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.” They went on to say that “interventions targeting vitamin D deficiency in adult populations could potentially slow the current epidemics of cardio-metabolic disorders.”
The strong evidence of the need for vitamin D to maintain quality health coupled with the fact that roughly 90% of Americans are deficient in this essential hormone is the only reason Maximized Living has produced a high quality supplement for ourselves and our patients. Elderly Women with 'Dowager's Hump' May Be At Higher Risk of Earlier Death - 26 May 2009
Hyperkyphosis, or "dowager's hump" the exaggerated forward curvature of the upper spine seen commonly in elderly women may predict earlier death in women whether or not they have vertebral osteoporosis, UCLA researchers have found.
In a study published in the May 19 issue of Annals of Internal Medicine, researchers found that older white women with both vertebral fractures and the increased spinal curvature that results in the bent-over posture characteristic of hyperkyphosis had an elevated risk for earlier death. The finding was independent of other factors that included age and underlying spinal osteoporosis.
Women who had only hyperkyphosis, without vertebral fractures, did not show an increased risk for premature death.
Hyperkyphosis can be caused by a number of factors besides osteoporosis, including habitual poor posture and degenerative diseases of the muscles and intervertebral discs.
"Just being bent forward may be an important clinical finding that should serve as a trigger to seek medical evaluation for possible spinal osteoporosis, as vertebral fractures more often than not are a silent disease," said Dr. Deborah Kado, an associate professor of orthopedic surgery and medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the study's primary investigator. "We demonstrated that having this age-related postural change is not a good thing. It could mean you're likely to die sooner."
For the study, the researchers reviewed data on 610 women, age 67 to 93, from a cohort of 9,704 participants in the Study of Osteoporotic Fractures. The participants were recruited between 1986 and 1988 in Baltimore, Md.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Portland, Ore.; and Pennsylvania's Monongahela Valley. Researchers measured spinal curvature with a flexicurve and assessed vertebral fractures from spinal radiographs; they assessed mortality based on follow-ups averaging 13.5 years.
Adjusting for age, as well as osteoporosis-related factors such as low bone density, moderate and severe vertebral fractures, and the number of prevalent vertebral fractures, the researchers found that women with previous vertebral fractures and increasing degrees of spinal curvature were at increased mortality risk from the spinal condition, regardless of age, smoking, spinal bone-mineral density, or the number and severity of their spinal fractures.
These study findings provide evidence that it is not just vertebral fracture alone but the associated increased spinal curvature that may be most predictive of adverse health outcomes. Other studies linking hyperkyphosis to poor health, such as impaired physical function, increased fall risk, fractures and mortality, have been unable to exclude the possibility that vertebral fractures alone were the underlying explanation for the findings.
The researchers note several caveats. This study focused on women, though hyperkyphosis also affects men; measurements for vertebral fractures were based only on height ratios, which could lead to misclassification of other causes of height ratio decreases, such as Scheuermann disease; and the timing of the assessments could have affected the results, though it's unlikely to have made much difference.
However, this study demonstrates a possible association between hyperkyphosis and increased risk for earlier death independent of the number and severity of vertebral fractures or osteoporosis in older women, the researchers write.
"These results add to the growing literature that suggests that hyperkyphosis is a clinically important finding. Because it is readily observed and is associated with ill health in older persons, hyperkyphosis should be recognized as a geriatric syndrome a 'multifactorial health condition that occurs when the accumulated effect of impairments in multiple systems renders a person vulnerable to situational challenges.'"
Study co-authors include Arun S. Karlamangla of UCLA; Li-Yung Lui and Steven R. Cummings of the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute; and Kristine E. Ensrud and Howard A. Fink of the University of Minnesota.

One particularly large controversy in health care is over the Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other related “mental health” issues in kids. Millions of school aged children are currently diagnosed as having ADD or ADHD.
Part of the argument here is how vague the definition of these conditions really are and the complete lack of a viable way to measure whether or not a kid has a “problem.”
Questions arise like; What does this diagnosis really mean? Is it the correct diagnosis? Is it really even a “diagnosis” or is it something teachers and parents label a child whose behavior doesn’t fit in the box? What, after-all, is “normal” child behavior? Clearly, not every mega active child is hyperactive, not every shy or withdrawn child is clinical, and not every daydreamer is “inattentive.”
The greater part to this and many of these controversies in medicine is the drug machine they create and the profits the system then begins to churn out. It becomes a major point of contention when you find that much of the information that supports the diagnosis and treatment of a so called illness is birthed from parties that have vested financial interest.
Being in a family practice for 20 years and working extensively with the Osceola County school system for most of that time, I’ve watched while many children received the mental health problem label. Yet, in working with these kids, the explanation of these disorders never made sense. First of all, it always seemed like a contradiction that children who could not attend to school work could still play computer games for hours even though both activities use the same areas of the brain and in many cases they could also sit still for T.V., movies, and keep their attention when doing something they were interested in.
I also found that the issue was far more complex than something you could write off as a chemical disorder. There were generally family issues including the learning curve a parent has to deal with today when trying to raise children in what is often either a home where both parents work full time, a single-parent home, or a scenario where a child now rarely sees their father or mother, etc., etc. Children are left to deal with a whole lot of emotional issues and are ill-prepared for that challenge. If they act unusual as a result, it means they need help – not drugs.
The original medical solution for ADD, ADHD, etc. was RITALIN. Ritalin (Methylphenidate) - a central nervous system stimulant, whose pharmacological properties are essentially the same as those of the widely-abused amphetamines like cocaine or speed. The warning label on Ritalin states, "Ritalin should not be used in children under six years, since safety and efficacy in this age group have not been established."
“In 1997 alone, nearly 5 million people in the United States were prescribed Ritalin—most of them young children diagnosed with ADD. Use of Ritalin, which is a stimulant related to amphetamine, has increased by 700 percent since 1990. And this phenomenon appears to be uniquely American: 90 percent of the world's Ritalin is used in the United States." - Running on Ritalin by Lawrence H. Diller, M.D.
The side-effects of Ritalin are vast. “The stimulant Ritalin causes long-term changes in the brain. As it’s in the same class of drugs as amphetamines and cocaine, the effects are very similar."
REPORTS THAT EMERGED ON RITALIN:
“The research suggests that it has the potential for causing long-lasting changes in brain cell structure and function.” - Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in San Diego November 11, 2001. “The FDA found a link between Ritalin and cancer. A University of Texas study showed damage to the chromosomes of 12 children who had taken Ritalin for three months.” - Cancer Letters February 16, 2005. Additionally, “Ritalin has also been linked to psychiatric events and heart disease. The FDA has been considering labeling changes to all methylphenidates due to psychiatric events and cardiovascular side effects.” - New York Times July 1, 2005, Forbes July 1, 2005
As stigma developed surrounding your kid “Being on Ritalin” doctors solved the concern by moving to other equally potent, adult drugs like: strattera, adderall, concerta, metadate, and focalin. Each with it’s own very extensive list of serious side-effects and all with little to no short or long term testing on children.
I don’t want to minimize the challenge of raising a child that would be labeled with these types of conditions even 1%. As a father of 3, raising kids is a tough game to win in the best of circumstances. I do want to offer solutions. As you walk through the 5 Essentials of Maximized Living, there are extensive answers to this complex situation. Here are 3.
1. ESSENTIAL #3: There is a wide body of evidence that shows chemicals, preservatives, colorings, grains, and sugars (even healthy grains and sugars) will negatively affect mood and personality. In our experience with 1000s of kids, it would be virtually impossible to see most of these severe types of cases if you had these kids eating not in a way that’s simply considered “Healthy” but the actual correct way to eat.

UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY: The morning I sat down to write this, I flipped through the channels and without exaggeration, there were 6 different ab or ab-related infomercials on. Talk about confusion and driving the mystery of the 6 pack even deeper.
DON’T BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT, BOOK, OR MEMBERSHIP THAT GUARANTEES ABS UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND SOME IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES.
The truth is, it’s really a no brainer for people 40 and under to get ripped (Without being a professional football player). Of course, if you’re really deep in the hole, you’d have to stay the course –but it’s actually not confusing. It’s really quite simple. The truth is, most of them, if they keep eating that way, get fat. The reason – at one point their physiology worked in their favor and so they stayed lean no matter the diet. Eventually, that type of diet and potentially aggravated by a sedentary lifestyle changed their “ripped” physiology for a “fat” one.
Good physiology is when good hormones are working for you and not against you. With the wrong physiology, you are a fat storing, muscle building machine. Not only will many exercise or diet plans not help – they will even further support bad hormone function.
PRINCIPLE #3: TOXINS: Toxins bind to fats and can make it virtually impossible to lose those fats ---- and also difficult to detoxify those toxins. As toxins build up, our cells are suffocated and deprived of nutrients. In a recent study two detoxification genes were studied. The genes glutathione-S-transferase M1 (GSTM1) and glutathione-S-transferase T1 (GSTT1) are responsible for 2 phases of detoxification in our bodies.
The proportion of individuals with a deficiency in both GSTM1 and GSTT1 gene activity was found to be four times higher in asthmatic patients than in the control group (54.1% and 12.2%, respectively). (3) Filling our bodies full of toxins leads to the activation of these detoxification genes. An overload of toxins is going to severely bog down our respiratory tract, leading to asthma like symptoms. So this study is right, these genes are more common with asthma, because they are detoxification genes that HAVE to kick in or else we can’t get rid of any of the toxins. Toxins interfere with how our bodies work, if they build up, you’re in trouble.

There are some shocking statistics about our children’s health that you must know now in order to literally save their lives. Prescription drug use in American kids rose by 5 percent in 2009, which is the highest of any other single demographic group, and nearly 4 times higher than the overall population. More than one in four children are now taking at least one prescription medication to treat a chronic medical condition! A chronic medical condition means that they’ll likely be taking the pill for the REST of their lives! The number of our children 19 and younger using type 2 diabetes medications has risen by more than 150 percent in the last 9 years, with adolescent girls increasing by 200 percent!
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the cells ignore the insulin being produced by the body and hence, the body becomes insulin resistant. This type of diabetes is the acquired or lifestyle induced condition - which means you get it by what you’re doing or not doing.

Chiropractic adjustments work to harmonize the body's natural systems by realigning the spinal bones and removing pressure and congestion within the nervous system. This process decreases the physiological stress response and restores optimal function and healing to the body. Along with many other health issues, chiropractic care has shown to consistently achieve remarkable results in helping to stabilize blood pressure.
The nervous system is what allows our internal physiology to adapt to the stresses and demands of the external environment. The skull and spine surround and protect the nervous system and bear the consistent stress of gravity every day. When the external stressors become too great there is compromise in the spinal structure and resulting interference in the nervous system. This interference is termed subluxation. Subluxation causes the nervous system to move out of balance and towards sympathetic (fight or flight) dominance. This process increases stress hormone secretion, inflammatory processes, and blood vessel tone. For many individuals this results in higher blood pressure. Chiropractic adjustments remove subluxation and restore harmony to the nervous system allowing the body to stabilize and heal appropriately.
In 1988, a double blind study of 75 patients was performed to fully analyze the reports that chiropractic care could help stabilize blood pressure in patients. Within this study, one group of patients with elevated blood pressure received adjustments to the thoracic spine area. Another group received placebos (movements that seemed to be adjustments but were not), and a 3rd group received no treatment. The result was that the adjusted group experienced decreases in both systolic & diastolic blood pressure while no change was noted in either the control or placebo group.
A special chiropractic adjustment to the upper cervical region can significantly lower high blood pressure, a placebo-controlled study performed at the University of Chicago suggests. "This procedure has the effect of not one, but two blood-pressure medications given in combination," study leader George Bakris, MD, tells WebMD. "And it seems to be adverse-event free. We saw no side effects and no problems," adds Bakris, director of the University of Chicago hypertension center.
8 weeks after undergoing the procedure, 25 patients with early-stage high blood pressure had significantly lower blood pressure than 25 similar patients who underwent a sham chiropractic adjustment. "When the statistician brought me the data, I actually didn't believe it. It was way too good to be true," Bakris says. "The statistician said, 'I don't even believe it.' But we checked for everything, and there it was."
Compared to the sham-treated patients, those who got the real procedure saw an average of 14 mm Hg greater drop in systolic blood pressure (the top number in a blood pressure count), and an average of 8 mm Hg greater drop in diastolic blood pressure (the bottom blood pressure number). This was a greater effect than 2 powerful blood pressure medications given in combination.
In another double blind study, Dr. Yates examined the effects of upper thoracic chiropractic adjustments on blood pressure in 21 subjects with elevated blood pressure. Subjects in the active group (those getting adjusted) showed statistically significant decreases in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Placebo and control groups demonstrated no such changes and did not differ significantly from each other. Results support that adjustment of thoracic region significantly reduces blood pressure of patients with elevated blood pressure.

Over $80 billion are spent each year on drugs to relieve heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, gas, irritable bowel, constipation, diarrhea and other digestive disorders. These symptoms of abnormal digestive are becoming increasingly more prevalent in our society. The nervous system controls digestive function from several different regions. (NaturalNews) The President's Cancer Panel (PCP) recently released its yearly report to the President outlining the status of cancer in America. This year's report focuses primarily on environmental factors that contribute to cancer risk. According to the report, pharmaceutical drugs are a serious environmental pollutant, particularly in the way they continue to contaminate waterways across the country (and the world).
Many reports have recently appeared about pharmaceutical contamination of water supplies, rivers, lakes and other waterways, but spokespersons from the drug and chemical industries have denied that this pollution poses any risk whatsoever to the environment. But this report, issued directly from PCP, provides a stunning indictment of the dangers associated with pharmaceutical pollution.
The executive summary of the PCP report includes the following statements:
"[P]harmaceuticals have become a considerable source of environmental contamination. Drugs of all types enter the water supply when they are excreted or improperly disposed of; the health impact of long-term exposure to varying mixtures of these compounds is unknown."
It's important to note that PCP is required by law to assess the National Cancer Program and offer a truthful evaluation of the various things it finds to be responsible for causing cancer. The panel is a division of the National Cancer Institute itself, so its findings hold fairly considerable weight in the scientific world (or they should, if the reaction wasn't so politicized).
The report itself is quite extensive, evaluating everything from the environmental and health impacts of drug and pesticide pollution to cell phone radiation and nuclear testing residue. But the section on pharmaceutical drugs is especially interesting when considering the fact that numerous reports have shown that drugs and drug residue that ends up in water supplies typically isn't filtered out by municipal treatment plants.
No laws exist to protect the public from pharmaceuticals
Many chemicals are highly regulated because they are known to negatively affect human and environmental health. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is tasked with regulating exposure to these chemicals, but pharmaceuticals are not included in its regulatory scheme. Despite years of prodding by environmental scientists, the EPA has given very little attention to the dangers posed by widespread pharmaceutical contamination.
According to a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) study conducted back in 2002, antidepressants, blood pressure and diabetes medications, anticonvulsants, oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy drugs, chemotherapy drugs, antibiotics, heart medications and even codeine are all showing up in the water supplies of American cities. This study was the first national-scale evaluation of pharmaceutical drug contamination in streams, and roughly 80 percent of the streams tested were found to be contaminated as well.
In 2008, an AP investigation found that at least 46 million Americans are drinking water contaminated with trace amounts of pharmaceuticals. Even though every city tested has its water treated and "purified" prior to being delivered to the public, trace amounts of pharmaceutical drugs are making their way through to the tap. (Since not all major metropolitan areas were tested, the number of people affected is likely far higher than what was reported by AP.)
In spite of all this, water quality reports don't disclose the levels of pharmaceuticals found in tap water. Since the EPA and FDA have failed to establish any proper guidelines for drug contamination in water, most people have no idea that their water contains a dangerous cocktail of prescription medications.
Hospitals, consumers and drug companies are all responsible
None of this is surprising if you consider that unused and expired drugs cannot be legally returned to the pharmacies where they were purchased. Many people just flush them down the toilet because the drug labels actually encourage patients to dispose of them this way (and they probably don't know what else to do with them).
People who take prescription and over-the-counter drugs will excrete them as well, contributing to the drug overload being found at wastewater treatment plants. (Drugs are not necessarily "broken down" by your digestive system.)
It is also regular protocol for hospitals to flush millions of pounds of unused medications every year, a practice that contributes significantly to water contamination.
And let's not forget the drug companies that dump large amounts of their own pharmaceuticals into water supplies. The same AP investigation found that more than 270 million pounds of pharmaceutical compound residue is dumped every year into waterways nationwide, many of which serve as drinking water for millions of people.
One Indian river where 90 different pharmaceutical companies dump their waste tested positive for over 21 active drug ingredients. In one river alone, there was enough ciprofloxacin (a strong antibiotic) being dumped every day by drug companies to treat 90,000 people! (And scientists detected this in water that was supposedly purified by the drug companies before being released into the environment).
The drug contamination levels found in India's rivers were 150 times the detected levels found in the U.S. These findings prove that drug companies couldn't care less how much drug residue they dump in water as long as they can get away with it. They don't even believe that pharmaceutical contamination is a threat to the environment.
"Based on what we now know, I would say we find there's little or no risk from pharmaceuticals in the environment to human health," explained microbiologist Thomas White, a consultant for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, in a Dallas Morning News article about the AP investigation. This is similar to BP's CEO saying, after the Deepwater Horizon explosion, that the amount of oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico was "tiny" compared to how big the ocean is.
Studies show drug residue cocktails actually do cause harm
Though the chemical and drug industries deny any danger from exposure to drug residue in the water, science (and common sense) says otherwise.
Even though current water contamination levels are measured in parts per million or parts per billion, there is no way to know just how much exposure people are actually experiencing. People drink contaminated water, shower in contaminated water and cook with contaminated water, so it's illogical to suggest that there's no harm being caused by widespread exposure, even at "low" doses, especially when the exposure is a combinationof dozens of different drugs that have never been tested in combination.
People are not the only beings that are affected by pharmaceutical contamination, either. The world's aquatic ecosystems (and the plants and animals that belong to them) are all being negatively impacted.
Drugs are being found in fish
According to an MSNBC report back in 2009, all kinds of drugs are being found in the bodies of fish near major U.S. cities. Researchers found drugs for high cholesterol, allergies, high blood pressure, bipolar disorder and depression in the livers and tissue of fish.
Researchers are in agreement that aquatic species of all types are being harmed by continuous exposure to water contaminated with pharmaceuticals. Even though wastewater is treated in the U.S. before entering waterways, most treatment facilities do not have the proper filtering technology to remove dangerous drug residues from wastewater before it gets dumped.

Beyond having their sperm damaged, some fish are actually changing sexes. Males are becoming females and females are becoming males as a result of drug exposure in the water. Other water creatures are experiencing things like organ failure and the inability to grow. It makes a reasonable person ask "How long until these effects start to hit humans?"
Or have they already?
"We have no reason to think that this is a unique situation. We find pretty much anywhere we look, these compounds are ubiquitous," explained Erik Orsak, an environmental contaminants specialist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in response to the findings.
And it's not just near American cities where fish are turning up with all kinds of drugs in their bodies. As of 2008, more than 100 different pharmaceutical compounds have been detected around the world, affecting fish and wildlife everywhere. These are chemicals that simply do not belong in our environment. And yet they are there, dumped into our waters by the pharmaceutical industry and its hospitals, pharmacies and consumers.
Why we need more research on the toxicity of pharmaceutical contaminants
Many animal studies have been or are being conducted on pharmaceutical exposure, and they are indicating that these drugs are causing widespread harm. But very few official human trials have been conducted, prompting many to push for increased efforts.
If drug residue is building up in animals and wildlife, then of course it's building up in humans as well, posing the risk of significant harm. Reproductive failure, thyroid dysfunction, cancer, osteoporosis -- all of these diseases and more may be caused, at least in part, by prolonged exposure to low levels of all sorts of drugs in the water supply.
Many states pushing for drug waste legislation
Because the truth about drug contamination in water is no longer a secret, many states have begun enacting legislation to regulate drug disposal. Last August, Illinois passed the Safe Pharmaceuticals Disposal Act, which restricts hospitals from flushing drugs down the drain.
The same report indicates that there have been five bills introduced to regulate drugs at the federal level.
While this addresses the hospital waste problem, there's still the human and drug company waste problems. No matter how you look at it, pharmaceutical drugs are going to continue making their way into the water supplies because they will pass through the bodies of consumers first!
Drug companies must be held responsible for their wastewater
Since it's already been revealed that drug companies are failing to properly treat their wastewater before dumping it into rivers (even though they claim to be treating it), U.S. regulatory agencies need to step up and correct the problem. Regular monitoring of wastewater contaminant levels is the only way to halt the chemical contamination of waterways.
And if U.S. companies are polluting water supplies in other countries (such as India), they should be held accountable for their actions. There's no excuse for U.S. companies to pollute anywhere in the world just because they're operating outside domestic borders.
Wastewater treatment plants should be retrofitted
State and local legislators would do well to put forth their own legislation to upgrade wastewater treatment facilities so they can properly filter out pharmaceuticals (and dispose of them safely). Since there's no way to stop human elimination of pharmaceuticals (apart from slowly educating the masses to stop swallowing dangerous pharmaceuticals), municipalities need to do their part to prevent these dangerous toxins from getting into water supplies in the first place.
Together, these measures would help to drastically reduce the amount of pharmaceutical waste entering our environment.
It's the environment, stupid!
The careless disposal of toxic pharmaceuticals is proving to be highly destructive, despite reassurances by some that it's not that big of a deal. The health of the planet and all of its amazing biodiversity is now threatened by the steady poisoning of toxic chemical pharmaceuticals.
And it's not just pharmaceuticals, either. Chemical byproducts and waste from many different industries are polluting our environment at unprecedented rates. Mercury (from dental fillings), fluoride (dripped into the public water supply on purpose, if you can believe that!), and all sorts of other chemicals and heavy metals are showing up in food, water and the global environment.
Haven't we poisoned our planet enough already?
Plants, animals and even humans can only take so much of this. That's why we need to keep fighting against the corporations that are causing this harm and force them to stop destroying the world in which we hope to raise our children.
After all, if we keep poisoning the planet at this rate, there won't be much left to offer future generations except a toxic stew of patent-protected chemicals that all the corporations pretend pose no problem at all.
A famous author and Rabbi once asked to describe hell and heaven.
He said hell is a place where several stoning people are sitting around a bowl of soup holding a spoon.The problem is the spoon is too long and their arms are too short so they cannot get the soup in their mouth. Heaven is the same.The only difference is, the people are feeding each other.

He washed their feet to teach them and us about love and service. He even washed the feet of Judas and Simon who He knew were to betray Him. He taught that anyone can love his friend or brother, but can you love the tax-man and pray for your enemy.
How often in the name of your job or of business do people do what is wrong or not quite right or ethical. Will you one day tell God. "It was my job" or "I needed the money."
How often do people not say or do what should be said or done because it is not popular opinion and would effect their status or relationships. Will you one day tell God. "Everyone else was doing it" or "That is the way it is allowed."
Recently a patient who came to see us brought their daughter who is 7 years old with asthma. Now after care at age 8, she has nothad an asthma attack in over 9 months.One day while adjusting him, the parents told us about a dinner party they were at the other week.The hosts got into a heated, top of the lungs argument with the daughters father. The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."

The obstetricians and gynecologists are figuring out that a bad spine affects your organs!
In this study, they took 363 patients who had some type of female organ problem and they measured their lumbar curve (lower back). Just as you expected, almost every patient had a loss of the lumbar curve, which means they were Subluxated. The conclusion of the study was an abnormal change in spinal curvature, which appears to be a significant risk factor in pelvic organ prolapse.

1- Q: I am trying to minimize my cravings for sweets.....any suggestions?
A: The Advanced Plan does exactly that. You will find that about 2-3 weeks into the plan, cravings go from a 10 to a 0! By eliminating the sugar and anything that turns to sugar, you are flipping your body’s switch into fat burning mode.
2- Q: What do you think of the safflower diet
A; Commercial safflower oil is typically polyunsaturated which are very unstable and highly vulnerable to oxidation- even at room temperature. This means the formation of free-radicals. Just being exposed to air and light accelerates the oxidation process. When you start heating it for cooking, the oxidation progresses even further.
The best oils to use for cooking are coconut oil, butter, and grapeseed oil
3- Q: Can I get enough fiber on the advanced plan if I cut out fruits, grains, beans, etc. if I one has digestive issues?
A; Absolutely- you will get plenty of fiber from vegetables. Digestive issues can have many root causes but the Advanced Plan works wonders for allowing the body to heal and to correct problems with digestion.
4- Q: Can I still have a vacation meal as Dr. Lerner suggests on the Undiet from the Body by God book and still have success with weightloss?
A: While this is perfectly acceptable under normal circumstances and for long term sustainability, it is not effective for weight loss. Unfortunately, if you want to be as successful as possible, you will need to avoid the vacation meals until your weight loss goals are achieved. When you are trying to get your leptin under control, it is crucial to eliminate sugars and anything that turns to sugar. Sugar is highly addictive and causes an immediate physiological response in the body- you can avoid it for a month but as soon as you have that “vacation meal” the cravings come right back in full force.
5- Q: In the Asian lettuce wraps recipe in the Nutrition Plans book, do you add the almond butter to the ground turkey?
A: You can add the almond butter after the ground turkey is browned – with the rest of the ingredients.
6- Q: What do you say to people who don’t do a Maximized Living Diet, yet live a very long healthy life?
A; There is one very important health risk factor that is often overlooked which is how a person’s nervous system is functioning. That is why you can see a person with a terrific diet who exercises all of the time, die of a heart attach at age 40 and someone who smokes, eats poorly, and never exercises live to a ripe old age. Much of the so-called mystery can be boiled down to how well their body is able to function and heal. Your Maximized Living Doctor can give you much more information on this topic.
7- Q: What about the Flat Belly Diet?
A: While the idea of a MUFA (mono-unsaturated fatty acid) at every meal is a good one and it is good that this diet focuses on organics- it also overlooks several important points. There are no recommendations about the type and quality of meats you are eating and there is still a heavy emphasis on carbohydrates which does nothing to get someone’s leptin under control.
8- Q: Can you offer an opinion regarding Agave nectar?
A: Agave nectar, while much lower on the glycemic index scale, meaning it doesn’t spike blood sugar as much, IS still sugar and has the same effect on the body. It will still cause a rise in blood sugar, insulin, and the body’s inflammatory response. That is why we recommend staying away from it, especially if weight loss is a concern.
9- Q: I cannot have soy and it is in everything!!! What is soy lecithin and why is it in everything?
A; Maximized Living agrees that soy is a food that needs to be avoided, in any form. Soy lecithin is a waste product from the processing of soy oil and yes, it is in almost every processed food out there. Your best bet is to stick with whole foods or foods that have been minimally processed.
10- Q: Isn't grapeseed oil another healthy fat?
A: Yes- grapeseed oil is fine for salad dressings or for medium heat.
11- Q: Is the info on saturated fats in the book: MLNP book? I just had a girfriend tell me sat fats are bad for you. I want to pass along this info.
A: YES! All of the information you need on the les we have been told about saturated fats is in there. The saturated fat phobia has really compromised the health of North Americans.
12- Q: So the Promise Spread that is endorsed by cardiologists, is bad?
A; YES! It is a man-made product, made in a lab, subjected to extensive processing, bleaching, heat, etc. It is best to stick with the natural foods that have been around for 1,000’s of years like coconut oil, butter, olive oil, etc.
13- Q: So with cutting out sugar...are you really wanting us to stop eating fruits???
A: If weight loss is a concern, leptin is disregulated, or the body is in crisis mode, the answer is YES. That is not to say that fruits are not healthy – they are! It is just that when the body is in crisis or weight loss is a concern, all sugar must be eliminated to help the body heal and repair.
14- Q: Are you saying that increased healthy fat intake will not increase breast or prostate cancer risk?
A: Yes. In fact, if you look at cultures like Polynesia where they eat very high amounts of saturated fats from coconut products or at some African tribes that eat up to a pound of fat per day, you will not see breast cancer, prostate cancer, or any cancer for that matter. Fat is actually the #1 missing ingredient in most American’s diets.
15- Q: What do you replace grains with?
A: You are replacing grains with more healthy fats and more vegetables. After the first 2-3 weeks, you won’t even miss the grains. In addition, the human species survived for thousands of years before the advent of farming and milling grains. In other words, you do not need grains to survive and attain optimal health.
16- Q: What is a good breakfast without grains?
A: Good breakfast options without grains include: eggs, nut butters, smoothies, whey protein, organic yogurt, raw vegetables, smoked salmon, grainless (nut-based) granolas, berries with coconut milk, etc.
17- Q: How do you replace pasta?
A: One good “trick” is to use a spiral slicer on zucchini- it comes out looking just like spaghetti noodles.
18- Q: I thought 100% whole grains were good to eat
A: Whole grains can be good for some people but it really depends on your ancestry. Some cultures were never designed to eat grains. That may explain the very high level of gluten and wheat sensitivities. If weight loss is not a concern, and you are not facing any health challenges, whole grains can be a healthy part of your nutrition plan. The Core Plan outlines which grains are recommended.

A: Organic does not necessarily mean grass-fed. It just means that the animals haven’t been given hormones or antibiotics. You can find some online sources of grassfed beef that will come directly to your house.
But the biggest questino everyone has is "How can I obtain more energy?"
Having TONs of energy is the most magnificent feeling one can have. Think back to this morning when you woke up. As soon as your eyes opened, you were alert with magnificent powerful energy.
